Tasting Notes:
Polkadraai Merlot/Shiraz is an easy-drinking red wine anywhere you go. The wine has a lovely red and dark fruit colour followed by a hint of spicy oak combined with a lingering finish.
Serve with:
Roasts, pasta and oxtail.
The Harvest:
All grapes from the Polkadraai range come from the Polkadraai Hills area in Stellenbosch. The grapes were hand-picked at the optimal time for aromatic concentration.
In the Cellar:
The fruit is fermented separately on the skins.
After MLF is done, the blend is made and matured in stainless steel tanks for 6 months and then moved to 300lt fifth fill oak barrels for another 6 months. Half the oak was French and half was American oak.
