As we enter the festive season we look back at the year with grateful hearts and much to celebrate! We would like to thank our team in the cellar and the offices, our growers and you our consumers for an incredible 2023.
We kicked the award season off with a gold medal for the Anna Christina Cap Classique at the prestigious Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, followed by another gold medal, this time at the Rosé Wine and Spirit Challenge for our 2023 Polkadraai Shiraz Rosé.
The red wines were, however, not far behind and soon reaped two coveted titles. The 2017 Sense of Place Suikerboschrand Cape Blend was awarded one of 6 Gold medals at the Perold Absa Cape Blend Awards for Pinotage-based blends, while our Stellenbosch Hills 2020 Merlot won the title of Red Wine of the Year at the 2023 Ultra Value Wine and Spirits Competition. Furthermore, the Stellenbosch Hills 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded a Double-Gold with a score of 92 points at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge.
We are exceptionally proud of Cellar Master PG Slabbert and Winemaker Charl Myburgh and their team – a great credit to their skill and consideration in the cellar.
Shop these award-winning wines online or at our cellar door, they will be the perfect addition to your festive table or make a great gift for any host or hostess.
This summer, we’re taking our love for Rosé to a cooler level with our mouth-watering frozen rosé popsicles with summer berries.
Not only is a rosé popsicle a pleasant, although unexpected, way to impress your guests with your wine of choice – but it also brings the aromas of the Polkadraai Rosé to life in your glass and makes for a beautiful display of this pink wine.
Picture yourself enjoying these refreshing treats with your friends while soaking up the sun, playing a game of cards and sharing a laugh. Whether you are planning a fun games night or hosting a summer get-together, the Stellenbosch Hills award-winning Polkadraai Rosé will certainly be the star of the occasion.
Celebrate Summer in style with a Polkadraai Rosé and Berry Popsicle!
Polkadraai Rosé & Berry Popsicle
YOU WILL NEED:
1 bottle of Polkadraai Rosé
2 cups of rehydrated berries, frozen or fresh Summer berries
2 – 3 Tablespoons of Rosé syrup (simple syrup)
Berries for decoration.
ROSÉ SIMPLE SYRUP:
In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup
dry rosé to a boil. Simmer until the sugar is dissolved, about 3
minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
Store syrup
in a glass jar and use within 1 month.
METHOD:
Set aside a small handful of freeze-dried/fresh berries to be used in the popsicle containers.
If using freeze-dried berries: Rehydrate the freeze-dried berries with water.
In a blender, combine the berries and 2-3 cups of Polkadraai Rosé until the mixture is smooth, add 2-3 tablespoons of sweetener according to your taste. We recommend a simple rosé syrup (see recipe above).
Add freeze-dried berries to the popsicle container and pour the blended mixture into the containers. Freeze for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
Add a popsicle to a glass of Polkadraai rosé for a fun summer take on rosé sipping.
